Vol. 28: England Win The Ashes

I had to go. I was drawn like a moth to a flame, or even a fan to match. When you have been watching one of the greatest sporting contests all summer; when you have been telling any Australian that would listen "England are going to win the Ashes", then you should be there when they do. A triumph of determination and team spirit.

Monday 12th September 2005 was a tense day. The fifth day of the final match. At one point it looked like England had blown it but then Kevin Pietersen pulled it together and steered England to victory.

These photos shows you two things. How desperate the ticket less fans were to catch a glimpse of the game and to what lengths they would take to see any part of the proceedings. (click for bigger pics)

The audio download is a montage of sounds and interviews from the evening. We might to a long version but for now this is it. I hope you enjoy the feelings it revives! Well played the Aussies and well played England, delighted to have been there at the end.

We beat the Bogans!
