Thomas Tantrum tour and new album

“How to play on very large stages again!” That’s what Megan Thomas says she and her band Thomas Tanturm learnt supporting Glasvegas this year.

Before that mini-tour the Southampton four piece had been playing small capacity venues and then suddenly: “We were thrown back in at the deep end playing O2 Academies!” Megan continued, “I must say I prefer playing the larger stages.”

And this June many more stages beckon as the band begin their headline tour in Aberdeen on 7th at the Aberdeen Tunnels. “I ‘m probably looking forward to that and Edinburgh the most because I’ve never been to those parts of Scotland before,” Megan explained. “Hopefully we’ll get some time to look round.”

It’s a 17 date tour to promote their second album “Mad By Moonlight” from which we’ve already had the excellent single “Sleep” (see below) which is a classic piece of indie-pop and prompted sessions on XFM and BBC6 Music.

The album is released on Monday June 13th but pre-orders are already being gobbled up due to a pair of limited edition bonus albums included in the price.

Megan seems quietly delighted with this new release: “I am very proud of ‘Mad By Moonlight’ though, it’s something we’ve been carefully moulding for a while. I don’t really want to say too much about what I want from the album in case I tempt fate.”

The Tantrum arrives at The Joiners on 18th June where they’ll be supported by Montage Populaire. Pre-orders are being taken at www.thomastantrum.co.uk
