Tennis video is a metal smash

Tennis video is a metal smash

At the time of writing its not clear if Andy Murray is heading to the final of Wimbledon or on his way to the next tournament.

But if you need a nocturnal fix of tennis, wrapped up in heavy metal humour, then check out the latest video from ‘The Blue Screen of Death‘.

Even though this Southampton band confess releasing it now is “a cold, calculated publicity ploy” the execution is excellent and the video will live for many months to come.

The star is the band’s merchandising manager, a real-life tennis coach with an overwhelming fascination with the legendary champion Bjorn Borg.

Its directed and edited by Andy Marsh, filmed by Chris Fergusson and cut to the band’s instrumental track ‘Shove It’.

However TBSOD are not shy of singing, as spokesperson Steve points out “We use singing when we feel it necessary. Some of our material is full of singing – songs like “Waster”- other times it is used sparingly, or non-existent.”

In this instance the soundtrack’s a perfect fit and I can see them being sourced to create something artistic for an avant-garde film in the future.

And with their latest release recorded in London’s Barbican Theatre you get the idea they’re strolling down that line of thought already.

For now, Steve says, they’ll… “relentlessly pester Kellogg’s until they produce Bjorn Flakes and give us a share of the profits.”

As you will see in the video, it is the breakfast of champions.

Saw these guys in Southampton recently and at a small festival in Somerset. Very good live and I hope they get swept up by a label soon so I can hear more stuff. Oh and the video is Ace…

I agree, the video should be a smash! Shame about Mr Murray though.
