What I love about this video is that even though a terrible act has been committed, love seems close at hand. The fishermen are pretty cool too.

With so many people taking holiday August is always struggle to make progress on any project.
But that hasn’t stopped the south’s world of music pouring their creativity into the public pool.
Following their support of Proud Mary last week The Rising (right) have released the single ‘Think Tank’ which was recorded live at Earth Terminal Studios by Lews Childs.
This has resulted in a great retro feel that the band are quite rightly proud of.
Another act you’ll find on the heavy end of the south’s aural spectrum is ‘Gideon’s Demise‘.
This Southampton three piece has landed a slot at Bestival along with a support for ‘Reef’ at the Musicosity festival in Bournemouth’s O2 on Sat 3rd September.
All musicians should make note of ‘Musicosity‘ as this venture is aiming to make it easier for audiences to know about gigs and reward them for going.
Meanwhile Lonely Joe Parker, former MD of Sotones, has been sending out invites to hear the rough mixes of his latests recordings and the song ‘Brooklyn’ is a track I’m happy to play again and again.
Another Sotones act with material ready is accordion wielding Anja McCloskey.
Anja is promoting here new single “and her head” which was inspired by a tragic event in her grandfather’s life.
As usual her message is in the lyrics and the haunting video (above) only gives a few clues away.
So maybe Anja will paint a little more of the picture tonight at The Bargate Gallery in Southampton.

The Southampton four-piece ‘Thomas Tantrum’ had a quiet 2010 in the real world but behind the scenes they’ve been preparing the ‘tricky’ second album. This video is for thier latest single “Sleep” which is out on Stranger Records on 28th March.
